Ralph Burton Gamble (Sam), Economy - With great sadness the family of Ralph Burton Gamble, age 84, announce his passing at Williams Country Home, Hilden, March 3, 2010. Born in Bass River, March 8, 1925. He was the son of the late Ethel Meekins Elliott and Russell Gamble. Ralph served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders, in World War II. After the war, Ralph lived briefly in Ontario, where he worked for Ford Motors Company. He later worked in the forestry industry. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening throughout his life.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Lila Henry Gratto. Sons: Ralph Gamble (Anne) - Truro, Roger Gamble - Australia. Daughters: Patsy Reynolds (Sean) - Washington, USA, Judy Gamble - Onslow Mountain, Debbie Lindsay (John) - Onslow Mountain. Stepchildren: Vernon Gratto (Virginia) - Vancouver, B.C., Brenda Gratto Griffiths - Vancouver, B.C., Doug Gratto (Doreen) - Truro. Grandchildren: Marcia and Melissa Gamble, Ryan and Kyle Comber, Brady Reynolds, Liam, Griffin and Chet Gamble, Madison and Brody Shearer, Clarissa and Evan Lindsay. Great Grandchildren: Isaac and Julia. Brothers: Logan Elliott (Linda) - Economy, Keith Chisholm (Nelda) - Economy. Sister-in law Lottie Gamble-Bass River, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, Terry and Ronald Gamble, brothers, Kenneth and Morley (Madeline), sisters, Mildred Urqhuart (Robert) and Claire Tibbets (Roy).

Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. No visitation by family request. Funeral service will take place Saturday, March 6th at 3:00 pm in the Economy United Church, Economy with Pastor Bill Martin officiating. A reception will follow at the Economy Recreation Center. Cremation has taken place. A family burial will be at a later date. Special thanks to Carmen and the staff at Williams Country Home, Hilden, for all the years of care.
