Bigney, Lorne Leslie, 94, of Debert, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 9, 2010 in the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in East Mines, he was a son of the late Norman and Phebe (Reid) Bigney. Lorne was a self-employed carpenter for several years and later was with the Civil Service for 16 years. He was a member of The Peoples Church, Truro. He is survived by daughter, Goldie (Fred) MacKinnon, Edmonton, AB; sons, Glen (Marie), St. Thomas, ON; Merle (Ruth), Charlottetown, PEI; Gary (Gayle) and Ralph (Sharon), Debert; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Willa Jane Weatherby and his second wife, Madeline Marie Goodwin; brothers, Lyman and Ralph; sister, Alice. Visitation will be held 7-9pm on Sunday, July 11, and funeral service 2pm Monday, July 12, all in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, Pastor Ken Fillmore officiating, with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment will then be held in the Folly Village Cemetery, Glenholme. Family flowers only. Donations in Lorne’s memory may be made to the Gideon Bible Society.
