Horton, Ralph Lyman, Truro and Guysborough, December 20, 1922 – October 18, 2010
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Ralph Horton with his wife Mabel of 23 years by his side. Born in Roachville, Ralph was an active member of the Harbour View Baptist Church. He served as the treasurer and deacon for several years. He enjoyed many years working on heavy equipment and spent a lot of time farming on his own land. Ralph had a great sense of humor and loved reciting the many poems which he had a special gift for remembering. His greatest joys were shown in the smiles he gave when his family was near. He was predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Annie as well as his sister, Doris. He leaves behind his loving wife Mabel; son, Jim MacPherson (Theresa); daughters, Connie Stewart (Duane); Betty Johnson (Ron); grandchildren, Chris, Ann (Dwayne), James (Jaclyn), Carrie (Jamie), Joseph (Katie); several great grandchildren. Visitation will be held 6-8pm Wednesday, October 20, at the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, and 1-3pm Thursday, October 21 prior to funeral service at 3pm, all in the Harbour View Baptist Church in Guysborough, with Pastor Cory Somers officiating, assisted by Rev. Warren Fitzgerald. Interment to follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough. A reception will then be held in the church hall. Family flowers only. Donations in Ralph’s memory may be made to the Harbour View Baptist Church. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting the “guest book” at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
