Ethel Lucille "Lucy" Seaman – 87, Valley Station, Colchester County, passed away peacefully, with her loving daughter at her side, on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Debert Court, Debert. Born October 28, 1927, in Upper Bass River, she was a daughter of the late John and Bessie (Gamble) Gamble.

Lucy was a member of McCulloch United Church, Harmony-Camden, and was a life member of the United Church Women. She was fond of children, animals and nature. She was truly a woman ahead of most as she enjoyed recycling and recycled everything she could before it became mandatory to do so.

Lucy is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (Kevin) Scott, Debert; grandsons, David Scott (Peyton Allard), Grande Prairie, Alberta; John (Lori) Scott, Valley Station; sister-in-law, Edith Ripley, Valley Station; former daughter-in-law, Vina Seaman, and granddaughter, Tracy Cushing, Halifax; close family friend, Brenda Black; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Buckham "Jack" Seaman; son, John Lloyd; sisters, Genevieve Fisher, Gladys Cooke; brothers, Douglas and one in infancy. The family would like to thank the staff of Debert Court for their exceptional care and making Mum feel so at home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Lucy’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2015, and funeral service 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2015, Reverend Morley Bentley officiating. Reception will follow. Private interment will be held at a later date in Crossroads Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Lucy’s memory to Colchester Community Workshops or McCulloch United Church are welcomed.
