Ethel Lucille "Lucy" Seaman –
87, Valley Station, Colchester County, passed away peacefully, with
her loving daughter at her side, on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at
Debert Court, Debert. Born October 28, 1927, in Upper Bass River, she
was a daughter of the late John and Bessie (Gamble)
Gamble.
Lucy was a member of McCulloch United Church, Harmony-Camden,
and was a life member of the United Church Women. She was fond of
children, animals and nature. She was truly a woman ahead of most as
she enjoyed recycling and recycled everything she could before it
became mandatory to do so.
Lucy is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (Kevin) Scott,
Debert; grandsons, David Scott (Peyton Allard), Grande Prairie,
Alberta; John (Lori) Scott, Valley Station; sister-in-law, Edith
Ripley, Valley Station; former daughter-in-law, Vina Seaman, and
granddaughter, Tracy Cushing, Halifax; close family friend, Brenda
Black; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was
predeceased by her husband, John Buckham "Jack" Seaman; son,
John Lloyd; sisters, Genevieve Fisher, Gladys Cooke; brothers, Douglas
and one in infancy. The family would like to thank the staff of Debert
Court for their exceptional care and making Mum feel so at
home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Lucy’s
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2015,
and funeral service 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2015, Reverend
Morley Bentley officiating. Reception will follow. Private interment
will be held at a later date in Crossroads Cemetery. Family flowers
only. If so desired, donations in Lucy’s memory to
Colchester Community Workshops or McCulloch United Church are
