Viola
Margaret (Shephard) Paris - 91,
Truro, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side and
following a very brief illness, on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at
Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born June 26, 1924, in
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, she was the daughter of the late
Peter and Gladys (Bailey) Shephard and step-daughter of the late
Russell Paris.
Along with
her parents, and step-father, she was predeceased by her husband,
Thomas "Din" Paris, brothers, Harold, Russell Jr.
Viola is survived by her son, Bryant Paris; grandchildren, Cordell
(Louella) Paris, Mark Paris, Dionne (Jude) Paris-Clyke; great
grandchildren, Chantal Paris, Sharkara Paris, Chelsey Cummings, Keisha
Paris-Clyke; sister, Jean (Herb) Paris; brothers, Edward (Maxine), Leo
(Beverly).
At a young
age Viola was first employed as one of the many women who worked at
the Pictou Shipyard during the Second World War. She also worked at
Weir’s Nursing Home and Hillcrest Manner as a Nurses Aid for
18 years. Viola was a member of the Zion Baptist Church, Truro. The
family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Palliative
Care Unit for their kindness and loving support. We would also like to
thank her best friend, Doris Paris, for many years of friendship and
kindness.
Arrangements
have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55
Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 1 p.m.,
Wednesday, August 26, 2015, Pastor Brian O. Johnston officiating.
Reception will follow. Interment in Robie Street Cemetery, 125 Robie
Street, Truro. In lieu of flowers, donations in Viola’s
memory to Zion Baptist Church are welcomed. Private messages of
