Leo Robert Scott – 81, Truro, passed away
peacefully, with his loving family at his side, on Sunday morning,
August 23, 2015, at The Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro. Born August
16, 1934, in Stellarton, he was a son of the late Robert
"Bob" and Annie (Fraser) Scott.
Leo was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic
Church. He worked for Canadian National Railway for 37 years as a
telegraph operator in Northern Ontario, British Columbia, Cape Breton
and Truro, from where he retired. Leo had many passions in his life
and those include sailing his boat, "Garfield" in
Pictou, playing violin, listening to classical music and meeting
"the boys" for coffee and great debates.
Affectionately known to many as "Father Leo" and
"Godfather", he was often approached by family and
friends for advice and words of wisdom.
Leo is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary (Bowles);
daughter, Terry Lee (Jason MacFadden); granddaughter, Leandra Jane,
whom he cherished dearly; sister-in-law, Linda Tucker; numerous nieces
and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his son,
Fraser Allan Scott; brother, Allister. Special thanks are extended to
the staff of The Mira who became his other family and to everyone for
their support over the years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Leo’s
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2015,
and funeral service 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2015, Father
Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Interment in Immaculate Conception
Cemetery, 125 Robie Street, Truro. Family flowers only. If so desired,
donations in Leo’s memory to Recreation Department (The
