Lyn Dalton "Tuffy"
Tufts – 90, Brookfield, passed away peacefully on
Tuesday evening, September 8, 2015, at Oakwood Terrace, Dartmouth.
Born May 19, 1925, in Simpsons Corner, Lunenburg County, he was a son
of the late Heber and Elva (Veinot) Tufts.
Tuffy started his career with CNR for a number of years, then
did various labour jobs and finally worked with Lafarge in Brookfield
from where he retired after 22 years of service. He was well liked
wherever he went and made friends easily. He played the mouth organ
and guitar but never made it big!
Tuffy is survived by his sister, Ila Vidito, Nictaux;
sisters-in-law, Hazel and Pearl Tufts; daughters, Vida (Boyd) Parsons,
Lena (Richard) Chipman, Truro; Roberta (Gary) Perrin, Hilden; sons,
Barry (Jude), Dartmouth; David, Steve (Debbie), Whitby, Ontario;
grandchildren, Jeff, Terry, Michelle, Tammy, David, Dalas, Richard,
Nicole, Brandi, Michael, Claudia, Abby, Taylor; great grandchildren,
Shawn, Ella, Addie, Olivia, Dawson, Wyatt; step-grandchildren,
Patrick, Chrystal; step great-grandchildren, Owen, Frankie, Harold,
Saylor; numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was
predeceased by his wife, Alice (Fisher); common-law wife, Gladys
Foley; daughter, Claudia; daughter-in-law, Sheila Johnstone; brothers,
Roy, Guy, Lee, Ira (Rose), Sheldon in infancy; sisters, Una (Layton)
Tipert, Ola (Russell) Savary, Fay (Morrell) Whynot.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service
will be held 2 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2015, Reverend Valerie
Kingsbury officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Brookfield
Westside Cemetery, Carter Road, Brookfield. If so desired, donations
in Tuffy’s memory to Oakwood Terrace (Recreation Department)
