Captain Nicholas Peter "Nick" Dorse – 66, Poplar Hill, Pictou County, formerly of Truro, left Port on Thursday, October 1, 2015, and is homeward bound. Nick began his voyage on March 14, 1949, in Bristol, England, and was the son of the late George and Ruby (Hockey) Dorse.

Nick is survived by his loving wife, Debby (Blaikie); sister, Sue (Robert) Hughes; children, Michael (Annabel) and Jennifer (Andrew) Clarke; step children, Tanya (Basil), Jason (Jennifer) and Joey Boomer; grandchildren, James, Ben, Sanchia, Kali; step grandchildren, Brittney (James) and their daughter, Candace, and Kaelan, Nadia, Erykah, Hayden, Alexander; nieces, Melanie Hughes  and Christine (Evan) Aitcheson.

Nick spent his life at sea as a Master Mariner and Captain of various ships. His greatest pleasure was making others laugh and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Nick’s family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, October 10, 2015. Memorial Service will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations in Nick’s memory to a charity of choice are welcomed.
