Irving Ralston "Herbie"
Murray – 69, Bible Hill, passed away Wednesday,
November 18, 2015, at home. Born October 13, 1946, in Truro, he was a
son of the late Harold and Lillian (MacCallum) Murray.
Herbie worked as a taxi driver for Layton’s Taxi
for 47 years and just recently semi-retired. An avid craftsman, he
enjoyed building models, especially ships, and painting. He enjoyed
fishing with friends at various places and loved going to antique car
and gun shows; he was a very familiar face and never missed a
show.
Herbie is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie (Johnstone);
children, Patty Murray, Bible Hill; Angela (Craig) Castle,
Hardwoodlands; Adam Murray, Bible Hill; grandchildren, Chelsea,
Corinne, Devin; brother, Floyd (Carol) Murray, Harmony; several nieces
and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his
grandson, Joseph MacKenzie.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Herbie’s
family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, November 21,
2015, and funeral service 2:30 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2015,
Reverend Matt Forrest officiating. Reception will follow. If so
desired, donations in Herbie’s memory to Canadian Diabetes
Association or a charity of choice are welcomed. Private messages of
