Lorna Annie Higgins - 90, Truro, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, January 24, 2016, at Wynn Park Villa, Truro, where she called home for the past number of years. Born in Enfield, she was a daughter of the late Hall and Kathleen (Scott) Dorey.

Lorna and Gerald lived in Shubenacadie for many years before moving to Truro. She was a long-time member of First United Church, and attended right up until the time of her death. Her friend, Grant Langford, visited her regularly and ensured she got to and from church each Sunday.

Lorna is survived by her grandchildren, Amy (Greg) Wood, Gore; Arthur (Dusty) Marshall, Salmon River; son-in-law, Clair Marshall, Truro; great granddaughters, Kaylee and Tylar Wood, Gore; brother, Aubrey (Loretta) Dorey, Enfield; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Howard Higgins; daughter, Corinne Marshall; sister, Phyllis (Donald) Tomson; brother, Gordon (Henrietta) Dorey; special friend, Bev Tinney. Special thanks are extended to Wynn Park Villa (West Wing), Reverend Valerie Kingsbury, Grant Langford and First United Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Lorna’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2016, and funeral service 2 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2016, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Spring interment in Watson Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Lorna’s memory to Canadian Diabetes Association or First United Church are welcomed.
