Randy Allen Hicks – 59, Truro, passed away
suddenly, as a result of heart complications, on Wednesday, April 6,
2016, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he
was the son of the late Elijah and Alice (Reed) Hicks.
Randy worked at Loomis Armoured Car for a number of years and
then went on to work at his "dream job" as dispatcher with
Truro Police Service, until the time of his death. He was a past
member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro, and past volunteer
with Truro Fire Service. He enjoyed playing his guitar, and in earlier
years played in various bands. He loved his grandchildren and they
will miss their "Gump" dearly.
Randy is survived by his wife, Fran (Harris); children, Kim
(Derek) MacKenzie, Dara (Karla) Spicer, Darren (Stacey) Spicer, Truro;
several grandchildren; sister, Susan (Myers) Roache, Lockeport; niece,
Marcy (Chris) Ostendorf, Ottawa; nephew, Mark (Jennifer) Bowser,
Truro. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Karen
in infancy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Randy’s
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2016, and
funeral service 2 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2016, The Reverend Lori
Ramsey officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Robie Street
Cemetery, 125 Robie Street, Truro. If so desired, donations in
Randy’s memory to Cst. Catherine Campbell Memorial Fund are
