Leroy Richard Dryden – 82, Truro. With heavy hearts we sadly announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Leroy, on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at home following a brief illness. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Trevoy "Roy" and Blanch (King) Dryden.

Leroy spent his early years as a truck driver, first for Ted Gostic, Taylor’s Transport and then for Loughead’s Transport before accepting a custodial position with the school board, spending many years at CEC. Leroy enjoyed model railroading and was a former member of Truro Model Railroading Association; he spent many hours building and working on his own displays in his train room, much to the delight of visitors, both young and old.

Leroy is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 61 years, Elsie (Bennett) Dryden; children, Ken (Jo-ann), Calgary, Alberta; Kevin (Shelley), Greenfield; Janet (Carolyn), Union Corner; Scott, at home; beloved grandchildren, Mark Dryden, Kristi Dryden, Megan Fox-Dryden, Calgary, Alberta; Eric Dryden, Jaime Dryden, Lindsey Dryden, Greenfield; sisters, Pat Dryden, Stroud, Ontario; Betty (Ernie) Baxter, Amherst; sister-in-law, Coral Dryden, Beeton, Ontario; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Roy Michael in infancy; brother, Bill.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, April 17, 2016, Reverend Dan Gibson officiating. Spring interment in Watson Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Leroy’s memory to Chidren’s Wish Foundation are welcomed.
