It is with great sadness that we the family of Beverly Ann
Lynds (Totten), age 70, announce her passing on May
7th, 2016. She was a devoted wife,
dedicated mother and proud grandmother. Beverly was born
February 14, 1946 in Truro, N.S. daughter of the late Kenneth
& Nellie (Blair) Totten. Everyone that knew her loved her.
She was an amazing baker and cook. Bev was always
there to help others whenever they needed. She
loved the family get togethers surrounding all the holidays. Bev was
an active member of the First Baptist Church, singing in the choir for
many years and helping with many dinners and luncheons. For
many years Beverly was a member and president of the North Rivers
Mother’s Club who were a vital part in raising money for the
North River Ball Fields. Her true passion was playing and
watching sports and playing many hands of cards. Most
summers were spent on the ball field playing ball herself and later
loudly cheering and watching her daughters play ball. Many remember
seeing Bev and Elizabeth on their motor scooters traveling around town
or on their way to the cottage in Sheet Harbour. She was a
long time season ticket holder for the Truro Bearcats, a huge Toronto
Blue Jays fan and for some reason a Toronto Maple Leafs
fan.
Bev will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 46 years
Harry and their daughters Tracy (Robert) MacKay and Tara (Wayne)
Brown. Grandchildren Connor MacKay, Natalie MacKay, Austin
Brown and Eli Brown. Her three brothers Allan (Carol)
Totten, Ed (Judy) Totten and Donnie (Ruby) Totten and many nieces and
nephews. Longtime best friend of 38 years Elizabeth
Crosby.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro from where visitation will take
place on Wednesday, May 11th from 6-8
pm. A private family graveside service will take place on Thursday at
11:00 am in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley with Rev. Frank Locke and Rev.
Paul Worden officiating. Donations in Bev’s memory
may be made to Palliative Care Unit of CEHHC, Truro, First Baptist
Church, Truro, or to a charity of choice. The family would like to
thank her doctors and nurses for their wonderful care. She
always spoke very highly of everyone. Also a special thank
you to her niece Kelly Totten for everything she’s done..
