Fulton, Rose Gertrude, 97, longtime resident of Bass River,
passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Vimy Court
Nursing Home, Bible Hill. Born in Portapique Mountain on December 15,
1918, Rose was the daughter of the late Allen Archibald and Rosabella
(Cooke) Davison, and was the last surviving member of her immediate
family. Rose was a member of the Bass River United Baptist Church. She
was a homemaker and caregiver. She was known for making beautiful
quilts, as well as many kinds of delicious fudge, and was able to do
both well into her 90’s. She retired from her job in the
West Colchester Consolidated School Cafeteria. Rose was a loving wife,
mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by sons,
Hedley (Ethel), East Mountain, Gerald (Dianne), Truro, Logan (Joan),
Truro, Richard (Marilyn), Comox, BC; seven grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased
by her parents; husband Lloyd (2010); brothers, Archie, Earl; sisters,
Pearl, Anne, Iva, Lily, and Winnifred. Visitation will be held 7-9 pm
Monday, May 30, and funeral service 2 pm Tuesday, May 31, all in the
Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, with Lic.
Larry Tirrell officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home.
After cremation, a family interment will take place in the Bass River
Baptist Cemetery. By request family flowers only. Donation’s
in Rose’s memory may be made to the Bass River Victoria Hall
Fund, or to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to acknowledge
and thank friends and caregivers who enabled Rose to live in Bass
River until November, 2015, at which time she became a resident of
Vimy Court. Grateful thanks and appreciation to the staff of Vimy for
the exceptional care they gave to Rose in a professional, respectful,
