McNutt, Donald Edmund "Donnie", 80, of
Brentwood, and formerly of Alton, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016,
in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre Truro. Born in Truro, he
was a son of the late Edmund and Helen (George) McNutt. Donnie was
retired from the Canadian National Railway, where he worked for 35
years. Most of his life, his passion for horses took him to the Truro
Raceway, many horse shows, and to the United States, looking for that
perfect horse. In later years he fostered a love of hockey with his
grandson, to his practices and games. This interest took them on a few
shopping trips for hockey gear and discussions on the best moves to
use to play the game. Donnie is survived by his wife, the former Diane
(McNutt) McNutt, Truro; daughter, Kelly (Michael) Miller, Alton;
grandson, Christopher; step-daughter, Vanessa (Andrew), Bible Hill;
step-grandchildren, Breanna and Colum; sister, Marlene (Don)
MacPherson, Bible Hill. He was predeceased by his first wife, the
former Sylvia (Miller) McNutt; son, Kim McNutt; brother, Reg McNutt.
No visitation by request. Funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday,
June 8, in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street,
Truro, Pastor Ken Banks officiating. Reception to follow in the
funeral home. Interment will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery,
Stewiacke East. Family flowers only. Donations in Donnie’s
