Chester Everett "Chet" Blair – 90, North River, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Everett and Catherine (McLeod) Blair.

Chet was a member of Trinity United Church, Onslow, and worked with CNR as a Conductor. He enjoyed woodworking, sport fishing, going to Truro Bearcats hockey games, playing cards (45s) and weekly gatherings at the mall with the boys to gossip in "The Liar’s Den", where only the truth was told!

Chet is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Chris) Roberts, Spring Bay, Ontario; son, Peter Blair, North River; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Joan Stewart (Butcher) Blair; sisters, Bessie (Victor) Ellison, Pearl (Carl) Matthews; brothers, Ralph (Evelyn) Blair, Jimmy (Truena) Blair. Special thanks are extended to the doctors, nurses and all the staff of Halifax Infirmary, QEII (IMCU), and Colchester East Hants Health Centre (3rd Floor, D3) for their wonderful care.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Chet’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, July 3, 2016, and funeral service 2 p.m., Monday, July 4, 2016, Reverend Glenn MacLean officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Watson Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Chet’s memory to Multiple Sclerosis Society or Trinity United Church are welcomed.
