Rushton, William Roy, 79, Lower Debert, passed away Friday,
July 1, 2016 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born
in Lower Debert, he was a son of the late Burton and Kathleen (Selwah)
Rushton. Roy played in several bands and had a great love for music.
He was involved with the Wildlife Association of Nova Scotia, and was
part of the Dahlia Association. He loved to garden and
enjoyed building remote control airplanes.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Myrtle Alice (Johnson)
Rushton; daughters Pearl Bouley (Joe) of Trenton, ON, Heather Baker
(Glenn) of Acton, ON, Wanda Vidito (Tim) of Annapolis Valley,
Stephanie Rushton of Lower Debert; grandchildren Joanne, Jennifer,
Evan, Victoria, Allison, Dawson, Eliza, Matthew; brother Victor of
Lower Debert; sister Shirley Soley (Paul) of Economy; several nieces
and nephews.
He was predeceased by a grandson Jacob; sister, Joyce;
brothers Harold "Heddy" and Joe.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro from where visitation will take
place on Tuesday from 7-9 pm. A Celebration of Roy’s Life
will take place on Wednesday at 2:00 pm in Faith Baptist Church, Great
Village with Pastor Steve Adams officiating. A Kitchen Party will
follow in the church hall. Burial will follow in the Folly Village
Cemetery, Glenholme. Donations in Roy’s memory may be made
to the Hope for Wildlife or to the Parkinson’s Foundation of
