Munro, Hugh James "Jim", 76, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, July 1, 2016, with his loving wife Darlene and sister Judy by his side. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late James and Olive (Richards) Munro. Jim is survived by his wife the former Darlene (Miller) Munro; daughter, Susanne "Sue" (Randy) Taylor, Truro; son, Jeffrey (Loralee) Munro, Vernon, BC; grandchildren, Dustin (Samantha), Lukas (Jessica), Nicholas, Darlene, Katherine; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Aislin, Emily; sisters, Rosemary Munro, and Judy Wallace, Toronto; many nieces and nephews. Jim was with AVCO Financial Services for 34 years, retiring as Assistant Vice President of Canada West. He then had a successful career as a Realtor with Century 21 and later as a Mortgage Broker, being the first retiree of Premiere Mortgage. Jim’s passion was his cottage, cabin as he called it, at East Loon Lake, where he spent many good times but always working at something as he could not sit still. He loved hunting, fishing and golfing, as well as his toys, such as his boat, 4 wheelers and snowmobiles. He was also an accomplished wood worker. His greatest love of all being his whole family and his canine buddy Mollie. A celebration of Jim’s life along with a time of open mike, and reception, will be held between the hours of 2 ~ 5 pm on Wednesday, July 6, in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Truro Branch of the VON or to the Colchester East Hants Health Centre Truro.
