Hazen Nelson
MacKenzie – 80, Lower
Harmony, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at home.
Born in Harmony, he was a son of the late Ira and Ethel (Smith)
(MacKenzie) Archibald.
Hazen was a member of McCulloch United Church, Harmony, where
he sang in the choir and attended many church activities. He loved the
outdoors, and was happiest when working with his tractor (Not a John
Deere!) and helping others. He lived a simple, quiet life and never
looked for attention or to be in the spotlight; he was content with
the comforts of home and the love he shared with his family and
friends.
Hazen is survived by his daughters, Wanda (Harvey) MacArthur,
Valley; Diane MacKenzie, Lower Harmony; grandchildren, Ryan and
Matthew MacArthur; brother, Arthur MacKenzie, Orangeville, Ontario;
sisters-in-law, Doris MacKenzie, Truro; Peg Lynds, Truro; Blanche
MacKenzie, Lower Harmony; Barb MacKenzie, Truro; Helen MacKenzie,
Bible Hill; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was
predeceased by his wife, Irene Eva (Lynds); daughter, Linda MacKenzie;
sisters, Helen (Don) Grant, Ernestine in infancy; brothers, Howard in
infancy, Roy, Russell, Harold, Ernest, Floyd. He will be missed by his
grand-dog, Milo.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service
will be held 2 p.m., Monday, July 11, 2016, Reverend Iain Macdonald
officiating. Interment in Harmony Cemetery. Reception will follow in
McCulloch United Church, corner of Harmony Road and Camden Road. If so
desired, donations in Hazen’s memory to McCulloch United
Church or Harmony Cemetery are welcomed. Private messages of
