Ethel Jean Bedford – 91, Wynn Park Villa,
Truro, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, July 20, 2016, at
Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Lower Five
Islands, she was a daughter of the late Millard and Freeda (Eagles)
Lewis.
Jean was a long-time member of The Peoples Church where she
also sang in the choir. She was a woods cook and auxiliary member of
The Gideons.
Jean is survived by her step-daughters, Catherine (Allan)
MacDonald, Valley; Ruth (Greg) Boone, Edmonton; step-sons, John (Judy)
Bedford, Halifax; Charles (Lily) Bedford. Sydney; brothers, Addison
(Eileen) Lewis, Moncton, New Brunswick; Harold (Lorna) Lewis, Truro;
sister-in-law, Marge Lewis, Five Islands; 13 step grandchildren; 18
step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Along with her
parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Cecil MacBurnie;
second husband, William Crossman; third husband, Alex Bedford;
sisters, Ruth (Bernard) MacBurnie, Iva Lewis; brothers, Derald Lewis,
Austin Lewis.

care, love and support.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, July 22, 2016,
in The Peoples Church, 15 Elm Street, Truro, Pastor Bruce Steeves and
Pastor Paul Bedford officiating. Interment in Penial United Church
Cemetery, Five Islands. If so desired, donations in Jean’s
memory to The Gideons or The Peoples Church are
welcomed.
