Sheila Ann Mills – 79, Truro, formerly of Chester and Halifax, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2016, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, after a long illness. Born in North Salem, she was a daughter of the late Currie and Florence (Nelson) Singer.

Sheila is survived by her children, Jan Lee Mills, Truro; Bradford Scott (Carol) Mills, Truro; Jennifer Ann Mills, Ottawa; grandchildren, Leanna Langille, Mitchell Langille, Reagan Mills, Lauren Mills, Truro; siblings, Clarence Singer, Stewiacke; Margaret Ellis, Upper Musquodoboit; many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Sheila was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Gerald; twin sister, Shirley; siblings, Keith, Dorothy, Vernon, Wilfred, Lawrence, Orie, Helen, Lena, and Francis.

Sheila will be most remembered by her love for her family and home and was a caring mother and home maker. She enjoyed several homes over the years in Truro, Chester, Halifax and Florida. She most enjoyed the holiday season and spent much time decorating with a Christmas tree in every room, all with a different theme and color. She was an avid collector of antique furnishings, English porcelain and figurines. Her gardens were always full of red geraniums and she loved to nurture her pet dogs and birds, many house plants, and cook and bake for her family. Home meant "Mom" and one was always met with the sweet aromas and warm embrace of her kitchen. We will remember and forever miss her motherly love and support as she was always there when we needed her.

Honouring Sheila’s wishes, a private family interment will be held in Brookside Cemetery, Mill Village. If so desired, donations in Sheila’s memory may be made to SPCA Colchester Branch, P.O. Box 914, Truro, NS  B2N 5G7 or similar animal rescue to commemorate her life-long love for animals and her many former canine companions. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall - Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Sheila’s obituary on-line and selecting "Send A Condolence" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com

"…What though the radiance which was once so bright, be now for ever taken from my sight, though nothing can bring back the hour, of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower; we will grieve not, rather find, strength in what remains behind…"
