Gordon Clarence
Dryden – 85, Truro. We
are saddened to announce the passing of Gordon Clarence Dryden on
Friday, August 5, 2016, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Born and raised in Truro, he was a son of the late Harry and Regina
(King) Dryden.
He was a devoted father to three children and a member of
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Many long-time
residents of Truro will recall Gordon for his talent as a master sheet
metal fabricator; Gordon owned and operated his own business, known as
Gordon’s Sheet Metal. He also loved music and was an avid
bowler. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew
him.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marie
Verna (Staples); son, Terry (Lynn) Dryden, Truro; daughters, Lois
(Mark) Pearson, Masstown; Debbie (Bob) Hyslop, Crowes Mills; sister,
Helen (Glen) Thompson, Shortts Lake; brother, Winston (Shirley)
Dryden, Alberta; grandchildren, Jason, Melanie, Adam, Charles, Shauna,
Erica, Brittany, Michael; 11 great grandchildren; many nieces and
nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister,
Marguerite; brothers, Harry, Louis; half-sisters, Georgina, Lorraine,
Mary, Bertha.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service
will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2016, Mr. Mitch King
officiating. Interment in Crossroads Cemetery, 110 Salmon River Road,
Valley. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in
Gordon’s memory to World Wide Work or a charity of choice
