Lynds, Eileen Elizabeth (Creelman),
91, Truro. Our beautiful mother and
grandmother passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016, in the Colchester
East Hants Health Centre Truro, with her family by her side. Born in
Truro, she was a daughter of the late Noble and Flora (Phillips)
Creelman. She was predeceased by her husband, Dalmar; brothers, Louis
and William; daughter, Patricia; son, David. Eileen is survived by her
four children, Barbara (Carson) MacLeod, Truro, James (Rose) Lynds,
New Glasgow, Darlene (Bob) Purdy, Toronto; Selina (Andy) Lynds,
Toronto; son-in-law, Lee MacLeod, Truro; eleven grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Creelman, Truro; special friend,
Earl Holt, New Glasgow. Eileen lived in various locations in and
around Truro, and spent many wonderful years in the Annapolis Valley.
In her earlier years Eileen owned and operated Polly’s Tea
House and Cabins in Wentworth Valley. She was hostess at the Palliser
Restaurant for many years. In later years she and friend Allison
McMullin owned The Towne Shop in Truro and later she and her son
opened the Daybreak Donut Café in New Minas. Eileen
volunteered for church and community wherever she resided, always
quickly to give of her time and talents. Always a good friend and
neighbor. A wonderful cook, quick to put the kettle on, everyone
enjoying her culinary skills. Her favorite pastime was reading poetry
and Shakespeare. Special thanks to Dr. Bachar Chalati for his care
throughout the years and to the wonderful staff of the Palliative Care
Unit of the CEHHC for their compassion, and to the staff at Parkland
Estates where Eileen spent the last few years, and also to her four
special granddaughters. In keeping with Eileen’s wishes
there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held
