Mitchell, Minerva Elizabeth, 82, of
Debert, passed away peacefully, Monday,
August 15, 2016, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre Truro.
Born in Central New Annan, she was a daughter of the late Wilfrid and
Elizabeth (Moore) Swan. She was a former school teacher in her younger
years. Later she owned and operated Minerva’s Ceramics where
she also taught ceramics. She loved flowers, gardening, and doing her
puzzles while watching the birds. Minerva enjoyed time spent with her
grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, whom she adored, and
spending time with her family. She was the last surviving member of
her immediate family. She is survived by her son, Allen (Sylvia)
Mitchell, Debert; daughter, Ruth (Bob) Patriquin, Great Village;
grandchildren, Marie Mitchell (Less Wallace), Melissa Mitchell (Mike
Taylor), David Patriquin (Amy Nichols), Dawn Patriquin-Slack (Kyle);
great-grandchildren Nathan, Hannah, Aidan, Samantha, Liam, Logan,
Erica, William; sisters-in-law, Jean Mitchell, Debert, Phyllis
Mitchell, London, ON; several nieces and nephews; also her two loving
cats, Lucy and Lexy. She was predeceased by her husband, George
Earnest Mitchell; sisters, Esther in infancy and Violet; brothers,
Hugh, Jim, Alex. Visitation will be held 6 ~ 8 pm Wednesday, August
17, and funeral service 2 pm Thursday, August 18, all in the Mattatall
~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, Rev. Morley Bentley
officiating with interment to follow in the Mahon Cemetery, Great
Village. Donations in memory may be made to the Palliative Care of
