Murray Fulton McCready – 85, Truro,
formerly of Frankville, Antigonish County, passed away peacefully,
surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday afternoon, October 15,
2016, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in
Dartmouth, he was a son of the late Roy and Ruth (Harvey)
McCready.
Murray completed his apprenticeship at Dartmouth Marine Slips
and then went on to work as a machinist with Royal Canadian Air Force
from where he retired as a Warrant Officer after 25 years of service.
Following this, he and Martin MacDonnell opened and operated Strait
Manufacturing Associates Limited until 1993. In his spare time, he
enjoyed woodworking; many family and friends have been the recipients
of his fine craftsmanship and these items will be cherished
forever.
Murray is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Doris
(Moseley); children, Richard (Tracy) McCready, Encinitas, California;
Dawn (Duane) Abtosway, Saskatchewan; Shelley (Vince) Campagna, Ottawa;
Craig McCready (Mary Ann Ray), Leduc, Alberta; grandchildren, Jason,
Justin, Candice, Chastity, Stephen, Zachery, Hillary, Christopher; six
great grandchildren; sisters, Norine Wilkinson, Truro; Sandra Kyte,
Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was
predeceased by his sisters, Doris (Henry Sr.) Murphy, Peggy (Gordon)
Woods; brother, David McCready.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service
will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, October 20, 2016, Reverend Valerie
Kingsbury officiating. Reception will follow. Interment at a later
date in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only. If
