Robert Joseph "Bob" Jones – 88, Caribou Shores, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, November 17, 2016, at East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. Born in Montreal, Quebec, he was a son of the late Robert and Mary (Shaw) Jones.

Bob grew up in Otterburn, Quebec, and in earlier years, served with the Merchant Marines. He worked for many years with Northern Electric (Northern Telecom) and was a member of Telephone Pioneers, making many friends in Montreal, Winnipeg and Halifax before he retired. He was a long-time member of Armdale Yacht Club and enjoyed his love of boating and the water. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida and held a special place in his heart for their golden retriever, Maggie.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Judy (Purdy) Jones, Upper North River; children, Deborah Morris, Halifax; Robert (Maxine), Coquitlam, British Columbia; Kathy (Lionel), Halifax; grandchildren, Ben and Julie Morris, Toronto, Ontario; Josh (Aimee) Rutz, Shilo, Manitoba; step- children, Kelly Johnston, Fredericton, New Brunswick; Randy (Shannon) Johnston, New Glasgow, Prince Edward Island; Robert Johnston (Trevor Johnson), River John; step grandchildren, Matthew Johnston, Kelsey Johnston, Olivia Johnston, Nevaeh Johnston. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Roderick; first wife, Patricia (Lister).Special thanks are extended to the wonderful staff at East Cumberland Lodge for their love, support and excellent care.

Private interment will be held in St. John’s Cemetery, Halifax. If so desired, donations in Bob’s memory to SPCA or Canadian Red Cross are welcomed.
