Thomas Joseph Franklin "Frankie"
Conrad – 71, Truro, passed away peacefully,
surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at
Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he was a
son of the late Joseph and Vera (McCabe) Conrad.
Frankie worked for Brookfield Lumber from 1968 –
2010. He was honoured for 30 years association with local hockey
leagues at the Truro Sport Heritage Society banquet in 1995 and he
coached the Truro Horsemen’s Men’s Fast Ball back
in the 80s. He was a former president and life-time member of Truro
Horsemen’s Club. He had a passion for harness racing with
his best bud, Emmons MacKay, and was a true and dedicated Toronto
Maple Leafs fan.
Frankie is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gail
(Tibbitts); daughters, Vicky Conrad (Brian McCallum), Onslow Mountain;
Sherry Bolger, Bible Hill; son-in-law, Chris Bolger; grandsons, Doug
Conrad (Kristy), St. Stephen, New Brunswick; Brandon and Jacob Bolger,
Bible Hill; siblings, Heloise (Earl) Morgan, Brookfield; Erma Conrad,
Bible Hill; LaVerne (Jimmy) Campbell, North River; Debbie Smith, Bible
Hill; Bernard (Joanne) Conrad, Pleasant Valley; Hector Conrad
(Joanne), Greenfield; Wade Conrad (Robin), North River; many nieces
and nephews whom he adored. Along with his parents, he was predeceased
by his son, Frankie. A very special thank you to Aunt Erma and a
special thank you to Dr. Sharma, Dr. Smith, Lisa, John and all the
wonderful nurses and staff in the Palliative Care Unit.
Frankie’s family will receive friends from 2-4
p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Truro Horsemen’s
Club, 288 Main Street, Bible Hill. Private interment will be held in
Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations in
Frankie’s memory to SPCA are welcomed.
