Helen Marion
Slack – 95, Truro,
passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday,
December 2, 2016, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born
in Folly Mountain, she was a daughter of the late William Garfield and
Elizabeth Jane (Rogers) Patriquin.
Helen was one of the founding members and supporters who
worked towards building The Thirsty Church in Londonderry. She loved
bingo and card parties and was so fortunate to be able to stay in her
own home right up until a month ago.
Helen was the last surviving member of her immediate family
and is survived by her daughters, Patsy (Bobby) Matheson, Truro; Linda
(Frank) Poce, Kingston, Ontario; Barbara Slack (Al Brandenberg),
Bayfield, Ontario; Dawn (Frank) Gulenchyn, Oshawa, Ontario; sons,
David (Mary) Slack, Oshawa, Ontario; Ronnie (Leslie) Patriquin,
Bowmanville, Ontario; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one
great-great grandson; many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents,
she was predeceased by her husband, James Osborne Slack; siblings,
Gladys MacLeod, Mildred (Warren) Norcross, Ralph (Wilda) Patriquin,
Raymond (Helen) Patriquin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service
will be held 2 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2016, Pastor Melody Patriquin
officiating. Reception will follow. If so desired, donations in
Helen`s memory to Cystic Fibrosis Canada are welcomed. Private
