Fisher, Joyce Winnifred, 85, Truro. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving mother on Thursday, December 29, 2016 following a brief illness in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Fred L. and Jean C. (MacIntosh) Smith. She graduated from Provincial Normal College in Truro, where she became an elementary school teacher and taught in the Truro area. She married and raised her children in Princeport, later moving to Truro. She was a member of First United Church, Truro and a member of the U.C.W. Unit H. Mum loved to knit, bake, play scrabble and do crossword puzzles and also enjoyed road trips, hockey and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Janet Stephens (Eric) of Hilden, Glenn Fisher (Sherry) of Valley, David Fisher (Wanda) of North River, Carolyn Tully of Valley, Ellen McLellan (Chris) of Truro Heights; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sister and best friend Dorothy Cruickshank of Truro.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her former husband Frederick Fulton Fisher;  son James Douglas Fisher; Daughter-in-law Claudia Jean Fisher; brothers Perley, Harold, Leland, Raymond, Lloyd, Donald in infancy; Sisters A. Jean Moore, Dorothy in infancy.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, from where visitation will take place on Friday, Jan. 6th at 1 pm. Funeral service will take place at 2 pm, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating with a reception to follow in the funeral home.
