Fisher, Joyce Winnifred, 85, Truro. It is with great sadness
we announce the passing of our loving mother on Thursday, December
29, 2016 following a brief illness in the
Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, she was a
daughter of the late Fred L. and Jean C. (MacIntosh) Smith. She
graduated from Provincial Normal College in Truro, where she became an
elementary school teacher and taught in the Truro area. She married
and raised her children in Princeport, later moving to Truro. She was
a member of First United Church, Truro and a member of the U.C.W. Unit
H. Mum loved to knit, bake, play scrabble and do crossword puzzles and
also enjoyed road trips, hockey and spending time with her beloved
grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Janet Stephens (Eric) of
Hilden, Glenn Fisher (Sherry) of Valley, David Fisher (Wanda) of North
River, Carolyn Tully of Valley, Ellen McLellan (Chris) of Truro
Heights; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and
nephews; sister and best friend Dorothy Cruickshank of
Truro.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her former
husband Frederick Fulton Fisher; son James Douglas Fisher;
Daughter-in-law Claudia Jean Fisher; brothers Perley, Harold, Leland,
Raymond, Lloyd, Donald in infancy; Sisters A. Jean Moore, Dorothy in
infancy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, from where visitation will take
place on Friday, Jan. 6th at 1 pm. Funeral
service will take place at 2 pm, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury
officiating with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial
will take place at a later date in the Robie Street Cemetery, Truro.
Donations in memory may be made to the Colchester East Hants Health
Centre, Truro or to a charity of choice. A special thanks to the staff
of the ICU for the excellent care given to our mother. Private
