Greenfield, Geraldine Muriel "Gerrie"; On Sunday, March 12, 2017, Geraldine Muriel (Gerrie"), partner, daughter, sister, aunt, and step-mother, passed away at home in Central Onslow, NS, at the age of 71 years. Gerrie will be fondly remembered by her loving partner, Barbara "Barbie" Shearer, and her daughter, Melissa Harris (Mike), and Melissa’s children, MacKenzie "Princess", and Michael, of Alberta, and furbaby Sugar. Born on April 4, 1945 in Toronto, ON, she was the second born child of the late Muriel Ann (Adamchuk) and the late James Graham Greenfield. Gerrie lived and worked in the GTA for most of her life and retired after 38 years as an Administrative Assistant from Fidelity National Information Solutions Canada Inc. Gerrie’s quiet ways erupted when life brought her and Barb together to unite the two of them on a journey for the last eight years strong that has seen a bond grow with deep roots and eternal devotion. Gerrie spent her days enjoying life with a smile on her face, a sense of humor to share with those close to her and had touched many in some small way throughout her very memorable life. Gerrie’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her warm smile, her compassionate heart, her contagious laughter brought so much joy to those who knew her. Although she was frail these last few months, she gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. She remained positive and optimistic for what the days ahead held many hold. Her beautiful life will always be cherished in the lives of her family, her brothers, Jim Greenfield, of Trenton, ON, Michael Greenfield, of Oshawa, ON, her nieces and nephew, Tammy, Laurie, Patty, Kristina, and Travis, all of ON; her in-laws, "mom" Eileen and Jim Johnson, Truro, NS; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Dale Shearer, Truro, NS; her Aunt Frances Shapiro, and Aunt Marg Adamchuk; and her first cousins, Michelle (Mike), Joel (Maria), Tanya (John), Harry (Brenda), and Jo-Ann (Shane). Gerrie was predeceased by her sister, Janet Moore (Greenfield), Toronto, ON. The family has at Gerrie’s request, will be having a private family service and burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerrie’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro.
