Coll, Marie
Geraldine, Truro, NS, affectionately known
as "Gerri", was born April 15th, 1940
in Bathurst, New Brunswick and passed away Sunday, March
19th, 2017 due to complications from a stroke.
She lived her life with joie de vivre and was passionately French. You
could argue she had an abnormally large collection of frog memorabilia
and we loved that she did. She loved anything gourmet and always
cooked with a glass of wine (or two). She loved to travel and with
Harvey, they were able to see the world together. Did I say she loved
her white wine? When she was angry with us, she swore in
French…and that’s when we knew we pushed her too
far. And she loved her fancy coats and hats as a personal luxury.
These are the things those that loved her, teased her about. She was
so proud of her time at Saint Mary’s University. For more
years then we can remember, she served as Secretary to the President.
We all knew who really ran St. Mary’s! She leaves her loving
& devoted husband of 56 years Harvey Coll, her son Douglas,
daughter-in-law Brooke Hatton-Coll, and grandchildren, Matthew
& Ian. Gerri was preceeded in death by her parents, Leona and
Martin Sivret, and her brothers Gerald and Ronald Sivret, of Bathurst.
Gerri is survived by her loving sister, Anne-Marie Melanson (nee
Sivret), of Bathurst, and her beloved sister-in-law, Helen Sivret, of
Riverview. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, from where a celebration of her
life will be held 2:00pm ~ 4:00pm, Thursday, March
23rd, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations may
be made in Gerri’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
