Ralph Douglas
Graham – 79, Upper
Stewiacke, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, March 20, 2017,
at Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou. Born in Upper Stewiacke, he was a
son of the late Ralph and Margaret (Faulkner) Graham.
Ralph was affiliated with Springside United Church. He was a
self-employed trucker for various companies, including Scott Paper and
he also sanded and salted the roads. He was a member of Truckers
Association and was awarded a Safe Driving Certificate. He served on
the Board of Directors for Heritage Credit Union and Upper Stewiacke
Co-Op and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed vegetable gardening,
tinkering and cutting wood.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Phyllis
Beatrice (McNutt), Brookfield, formerly of Upper Stewiacke; daughters,
Karen Graham, Nancy Graham, Truro; Shelley Graham, Brookfield; Angela
Graham (Simon Wood), Debert; grandchildren, Rebecca Wood, Lauren Wood,
Jarret Retfalvi; sister, Betty Rogers, Upper Stewiacke; brothers, John
"Jack" (Peggy) Graham, Calgary, Alberta; Raymond (Lois)
Graham, Kamloops, British Columbia; several nieces and nephews. Along
with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Catherine in
infancy; brother-in-law, Bernard Rogers. Special thanks are extended
to all the staff at Maritime Oddfellows Home for their compassionate
care and support.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Ralph’s
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2017, and
funeral service 2 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2017. Reception will
follow. Spring interment in Riverside Cemetery, Upper Stewiacke. If so
desired, donations in Ralph’s memory to Maritime Oddfellows
Home (Resident Fund) or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
