Bernard William Little - Truro, peacefully and
surrounded by his family, passed away at the age of 81 in the
Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Bernie was born in Halifax
on May 19, 1935 to William Patrick and Ellen Theresa
(Poteri) Little. His sister Barbara Marie predeceased him in
childhood. Bernie was a devoted and caring husband to Dolores Mary
(Eisan) Little for almost 59 years and a loving father to Susan
(Edward Javinsky), Kevin (Cheryl Ellis), and Michael (Gia Klironomos).
We were so blessed to have him as our dad. He adored his grandchildren
Matthew Little, Tori-Rose Javinsky, Benjamin Javinsky, Nicholas
Little, Alexander Little, and Lillian Little. He was delighted to be a
foster grandfather to Renae Watters, and to be a great-grandfather to
Julia Irene Cloney.
Bernie loved everything to do with cars and worked with them
all his life, including operating service stations in Halifax, Sydney,
and finally in Bedford until 1985. At times, it seemed everyone knew
Bernie and his ability to remember people always amazed us. He and
Dolores ran the B&D Little convenience store in Debert for
many years before retiring to live in Ottawa with his
daughter’s family in 2001. Bernie and Dolores returned to
Nova Scotia in 2015 to be where they were happiest. Bernie loved
nothing more than spending time with his family and driving every road
in Nova Scotia. We know he’s behind the wheel right now,
exploring another part of the province he loved.
We wish to thank the doctors and nurses at the Colchester
East Hants Health Centre who cared for Bernie so compassionately in
his last illness.
