Dr. Gordon S. Kenney - 88, Florida and
Debert, a devoted husband and father, died in Summerfield, Florida on
March 1, 2017. Born in Cranston, Rhode Island, he was the son of the
late Gordon Bennett Kenney and Havena Marion (Hopkins)
Kenney.
He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery at

on the USS Chilton as a Navy Lieutenant stationed in Virginia. He
married E. Bernice Kenney on May 25, 1955 and for many years practiced
dentistry in Wakefield, Rhode Island. Their love of the
countryside, animals and living a quiet life would bring them to move
to Nova Scotia, Canada in 1973. He practiced dentistry for
more than 35 years in Truro, Nova Scotia. Kind and patient,
with a quick and dry wit. Following his retirement, a former
patient remarked when meeting his wife ‘we miss his quiet,
gentle touch’.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church
in Truro and the Trinity Lutheran Church in Summerfield, Florida. In
his spare time, he loved fine carpentry work and spending quality time
with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Bernice
(Kendell) Kenney and his children: Robert; Nancy; Alan; Ann; Amy and
Thomas; as well as six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and
two nieces.
