Rushton: Erma
Florence, 94, of Lower Truro Road, Truro,
passed away peacefully to be with her Lord, Friday, April 7, 2017, at
the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Pugwash, she
was the daughter of the late Arthur and Florence (Black) Murray. Erma
was an active volunteer for many years for a variety of charities. She
was an avid gardener, a wonderful cook, loved to fish on Westchester
Mountain and spend quality family time at Sutherlands Lake. She was
the bookkeeper/partner of Rushton's Service Station for 40
years. Erma was a member of the People's Church Truro and
spent many years as a Sunday school teacher there. She is survived by
daughters, Martena (Wendell) Hendsbee, Truro; Gwen Rushton, Truro;
son, Brian (Kathryn), North Vancouver; brother Douglas (Mary Lou)
Murray, Kingston; grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Dail, Craig (Allison
Bannard), Gerred, Adam; great-grandchildren, Peter, Jasper, Ruby and
Ivy Dail; Sophia Rushton; several nieces and nephews; step Mother Mary
Jenkins, Sisters in Law Myrna Murray, Patricia Croucher. She was
predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years Carl, sisters Gladys,
Hazel; brothers Vaughn, Angus. Visitation will be held 7-9pm Tuesday,
May 16 and funeral service 2pm Wednesday, May 17, all in the
Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro. Pastor Ken
Fillmore officiating, assisted by Pastor Steve Adams and Pastor Doug
Campbell, with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment
will then follow at Eagle Hill Cemetery, Westchester Station. Family
flowers only please. Donations in Erma's memory may he made to the
Gideon's of Canada, the Colchester Christian Academy or to a charity
of your choice. The family would like to express special thanks to the
Palliative Care Unit, the VON Nurses and Erma's private care providers
