William Sears - 66, passed away on Monday, January 30,
2017. He was the son of Frances and the late William Sears
and was raised in Brookfield, Nova Scotia.
When he was young, he was a member of the 569 Air Cadet Squadron where
he achieved the rank of flight sergeant. He was also interested in
swimming and attained the Red Cross Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross.
He was an avid chess player both when he was young and throughout his
life. His primary interest was in math and science. He excelled in
these subjects at South Colchester High School.
William received his B.Sc. (honours) and M.Sc. at Acadia
University. He obtained his PhD (physics) at McMaster University in
1978. William worked at various Canadian universities as a research
scientist and as an instructor. His continued industry in his field
brought him to the position of Professor of Physics at Lakehead
University, Thunder Bay Ontario, serving for a time as Department
Head. Over the years William published many research papers.
William leaves behind his wife Susan; son,
Marc; daughter, Wendy and her husband, Mirek; grandchildren,
Maxwell and Samuel; mother, Frances; brother,
Brian.
William did what he wanted to do in life and he did it well;
rest in peace.

will be held 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Brookfield Westside
Cemetery, Carter Road, Brookfield, The Reverend Gary Yetman
officiating.
