Michael Ernest "Mike" Purdy –
55, Truro, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, as the result of a
brain aneurysm, on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Halifax Infirmary,
QEII, Halifax. Born in Truro, he was a son of Nita "Nin"
(Faulkner) Purdy, Bible Hill, and the late Lionel
Purdy.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman and was perfectly content when
he was surrounded by nature. He enjoyed working in the woods and
currently worked as a tree planter. He loved fishing on the Stewiacke
River, enjoying drinks (Purdy Good liquor!) at Farm Lake, barbecuing,
playing washer toss and any ot crher outdoor activity that included
food, family and friends. On days that he couldn’t enjoy the
outdoors, he enjoyed watching movies and had a keen interest in The
Weather Network.
Along with his mother, Mike is survived by his partner and
best friend, Jennifer MacDonald, Truro; children, Justin Brewer,
Breanna Brewer, Halifax; Jennifer’s children, Michael
(Kirsten) MacDonald, Milford; Jessica MacDonald, Halifax; brothers,
Randall (Joanne) Purdy, Bible Hill; Timothy (Donna) Purdy, Debert;
nieces, Brittney, Summer, Megan, Emily-Mae; nephew, Anthoney; many
aunts, uncles, cousins and a wide circle of friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Mike’s
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017. If
so desired, donations in Mike’s memory to Heart and Stroke
Foundation of Nova Scotia or Cobequid Salmon Association are welcomed.
