James Walter Miller
J. Walter Miller of Londonderry, Nova Scotia, and formerly of
Holliston, MA, passed away quietly in his sleep on Sunday, April 9,
2017. Born on Prince Edward Island, he was a son of the late James
Alexander Miller and Clara Miller. Walter, who was about to turn 89 in
November, did not finish high school, but emigrated from Canada as a
young man and became an extremely successful entrepreneur.
He was also: inventor, adventurer, outdoorsman, scout
leader, pilot, and life-long learner.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: James (Renee) Miller, Alton Bay, NH; Kevin (Sue) Miller, Leominister, MA; Peggy (Dan) Mattix, Londonderry, NS; Stephen (Pep) Miller, Riverside, OH; Scott Miller, Riverview, FL; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings: Betty Adams, Sackville, NS; Louise Faulkner, Vancouver, BC; William "Bill" Miller, Economy, NS; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Margaret P. "Peggy" Miller; brother John Miller; and granddaughter, Callie Miller.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 24th at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA. The family wishes to thank Dad's care team at Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche, NS for their tender care with dignity.
