Jack Douglas Swift

Swift, Jack Douglas, 78, Bible Hill, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Douglas and Lorna (Tizard) Swift. Jack was a very kind and loving husband, step-father and step-grandfather. He was an avid Bear Cats fan and also loved baseball, hockey, golf and nascar’s. He spent many years in the Air Force and later worked for Stanfield’s Ltd, Truro. After his retirement he loved to travel to Myrtle Beach, Florida and loved doing grounds keeping with his buddy Al Harries at Mountain Golf and Country Club, East Mountain. He also got a great kick of teasing the girls at the desk. In the winter time, you could find him at Tim Horton’s at 9:30 am with his friends. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years Jacqueline Marie LeBlanc; step-daughters Nancy McNamee (Jim) of Kincardine, ON, Patricia Farmer (Charles) of Tiverton, ON, Rose-Marie Hoffman of Edmonton, AB; step-son Timothy Hoffman (Filomena) of Kitchener, ON; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; brothers  Denis of Bridgewater, Douglas of Michigan, USA; sister Janet Swift of Canning, NS; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased a brother Donald.  

Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro from where a Celebration of Jack’s Life will take place on Monday evening, June 19th from 6-8 pm. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice.
