It is with extreme sadness and heartbreak that we, the family
of Kirk Lorenzo DeBay announce his tragic passing on June 19, 2017.
Our Super Hero got tired and he is now at rest. Kirk was born on
October 31, 1973 in Truro, Nova Scotia. Kirk was raised in and around
the Truro area but spent the last ten years with his wife and children
living and working in Alberta. Kirk had an extensive career in the
construction industry and has made many friends and new family members
through his work. He had a genuine love for people and he always
wanted people to see themselves the way that he saw them. He wanted
them to know that they were worth it and that they mattered and he
tried hard to instill in them a sense of self-worth and belonging.
Along with his biological family he leaves behind an; extensive friend
family from coast to coast. When Kirk cared about someone he really
cared about them and once you were in his heart you were family and he
truly believed that family was the most important thing.
Kirk is survived by the love of his life Michelle (Watson) DeBay,
their daughters Morgan and Haley DeBay and Jeff Matthews (Stephanie),
Nova Scotia; who he proudly thought of as a son, granddaughters Gracie
and Rielly Matthews, parents Barbara and Brian Marriott, Kirk and
Elsie DeBay, sister Anastasia (Rodney) DeBay, brother Mark (Amy)
DeBay, maternal grandmother Beatrice Metlin, Mother and father in law,
Cathy and Gordon Lewis and numerous Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased Maternal grandfather Lorenzo Metlin,
paternal grandparents Victoria & George Clarke and Aubrey
& Marion Robinson.
Kirk will be sadly missed but
very fondly remembered. Though he had a tortured soul he loved and
gave his love freely. He was an amazingly hard and conscientious
worker that inspired others to work hard and take pride in their work.
The loss of Kirk will leave a large void in many lives. Today we woke
up feeling like the color had drained from the world and everything
was in black and white; but Kirk would want nothing more than for
those who loved him to hang on tight to each other during this
difficult time and over the days and months to come to allow the light
to return and to notice every moment of the beauty around you. Kirk
had a lot of sayings, most of them not PG rated, but one thing he said
and believed above all others is that people should love more and
judge less. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of
choice.

more. "~ Henry David Thoreau
