Florence Lillie Burgess – 98, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 5, 2017, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Ingonish, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late John and Florence (Wilson) Hardy, who were a fishing family in that community.

Florence is survived by her sisters, Mary Matthews, Edmonton, Alberta; Blanche Bayliss, Toronto, Ontario; Shirley (Valmore) Dumais, Kingston, Ontario; brother, Ewart Hardy, Ingonish; step daughter, Kaye Waller, Stoney Creek, Ontario; step daughter-in-law, Charlotte Burgess, Murray Siding; step grandchildren, Denise Burgess (Tom Thomson), Valley; Charlene Burgess, Truro; Nathan (Leona) Burgess, Belleville, Ontario; William "Willie" (Carrie) Burgess, Bible Hill; Stephanie (Frank) Dukarich, Stoney Creek, Ontario; David Waller (Barbara), England; numerous step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Arleigh William Burgess; step son, Dennis Burgess; sisters, Minnie MacLean, Violet MacLean; brothers, George Hardy, Duncan Hardy; nephew, Weldon Matthews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
