Lutz, Gene Robert, 71, Truro, passed away peacefully at home
on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 with his family and friends by his side.
Born in Penticton, BC, on September 7, 1946, he was the son of
Lorraine Hatch of BC and the late Robert Lutz. Gene was a truck driver
for most of his life, then moved to Ontario where he worked for
Purolator Hub in Toronto for 25 years, later retiring to Truro. In his
younger years Gene was a stock-car driver, a member of the Trail, BC,
Kinsmen Club, Trail BC Curling Club and the Truro Curling Club. Gene
enjoyed bowling and watching all sports and working in his
garden.
Beside his mother, Gene is survived by his wife Janice
(Mills); daughters Katherine of BC, Janet Thompson (Mike) of
Antigonish; son Robert Hiltz of Dartmouth; grandchildren Nicole,
Holly, Samantha H. Samantha B, Tyler, Michael, William; several
great-grandchildren; brother Brian (Janet); sister Fay (Ron);
half-sister Leslie; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Ruth
(Paul), Wilma; brother-in-law Richard (Janet); also his furry babies
Jasper of Truro, Joey of Cape Breton.
He was predeceased by a grandson Bradley
Thompson.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. No visitation or funeral service
by family request. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations
in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
