Blaikie, Stanley "Brian", Truro.
"The Whistling has stopped" It
is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Brian
on November 10, 2017 at home, surrounded by his loving wife and
daughters. Born in Truro on January 29, 1946, he was the youngest son
of the late Stanley Richard and Olive Lillian (Rushton) Blaikie. He
received his early education through the Truro School system and
graduated from the Truro Senior High School and began his working
career with Halliday Craftsman in the shipping department and driving
ambulance for Bartlett’s Ambulance in the evenings. He then
became a fulltime member of the Truro Fire Service from where he
retired. Brian was an active member of the Golden Age Automobile Club,
serving terms as President and Treasurer of the club and was also a
member of the Military Vehicle Club. A quiet, gentle and humble man
Brian was happiest in his garage with a wrench in hand and working on
an old car. His most cherished moments were with his family, watching
his grandsons play hockey, summers at the cottage in Brule Beach,
laughing and teasing with his kids and grandsons. They will be forever
appreciative of his guidance and his caring, positive influence on
their lives.
Left to treasure his precious memory are his high school
sweetheart and wife of 50 years, Heather (Ferguson); daughters
Stephanie Fielding (Jeffrey) of Forest Glen, NS, Kari Lyn Furmidge of
Brentwood, NS; his pride and joy- his four grandsons-Cole and Luke
Fielding, Andyn and Jonah Furmidge; siblings Richard Blaikie of Truro,
Gary Blaikie (Patricia) of Herring Cove, Brenda MacLeod of Truro,
Linda Dowell (Harry) of Halifax; brother and sister-in law Gary and
Martha Ferguson of Truro; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers Gordon Blaikie, Gloud Blaikie;
and very special sister-in-law Roberta Blaikie.
