Eagles, David Ian, 53, Truro, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2017 in the QE II Health Science Centre, Halifax Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Mearl and Leah (Boyd) Eagles. Dave worked for over twenty-three years at the Truro branch and regional headquarters of the Colchester-East Hants Public Library.  In 1988, he was a member of the special project team preparing the collection for a new library in Elmsdale; later he was part of the pre-automation team taking an inventory of the collection throughout the library system.  In 1994, he joined the staff.  Working in all departments, he shelved books, prepared new books for the collection, and helped with clerical work.  For Dave, who loved reading and surrounding himself with books, the library was his ideal workplace.

He is survived by his best friend Robert Hanhan of Truro; his feline friend Suri; good friends Brian and Betty Blois and Alan and Joan Stewart; his close library and church families; aunts, uncles, cousins; nieces Holly and Erin; sisters Michael Ann  (Rob), Cheryl.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. No visitation by family request. Funeral service will take place on Monday, Nov. 27th at 11 am in St. Andrew's United Church, 55 King Street, Truro. Keith Selwyn-Smith, DLM will officiate with a reception to follow. Burial will take place at a later date in Peniel United Church Cemetery, Five Islands. Donations in memory may be made to the Colchester-East Hants Public Library. A special thank you to Fran from the Colchester-East Hants Public Library and also to Betty Blois for always being there for David.
