Cook, Helen Margaret.  86, Princeton Heights, Truro. We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Helen, to us; Mom, Nan or Grannanny, on Monday, January 15, 2018, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by loved ones. Born on November 15, 1931, in Bridgewater, NS and was the daughter of the late Gordon and Edith "Idella" (Wentzell) Cook. Helen worked at Ryan’s IGA as the Snack Bar Manager for 28 years before she retired in 1995.  She had the pleasure to work with her daughter Vicki, for several years and together they become well known and loved for their delicious and very popular menu items that they made daily. Helen was a dedicated employee and was a familiar face to many Truro folks.  Helen also loved to knit and read. Helen was surrounded by so much love.

She is survived by her children; sons, Bob Hyslop (Debbie) of Crowes Mills, NS, Bruce Hyslop of Middle Sackville, NS; daughter, Vicki MacDonald (Jim) of Truro, NS; Grandchildren; Lori Collins (Sean), Amber MacDonald (Andrew Spears), Adam Hyslop, Charles Hyslop (Marley) and Jessica Hyslop; and a handful of Great Grandchildren that adored her and called her Grannanny; Aiden and Asher Spears, Madilyn Collins, Kayla Mosher and Zoey Hyslop;  Brother, Everett Cook (Margaret Anne); sister, Edith Hall and sister-in-law, Dianne Cook; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Lucille Silver; brothers, Donald Cook and James Cook; sister-in-law, Marjorie Cook and brothers-in-law, Wally Hall and Harold Silver.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. No visitation or funeral service by family request. In lieu of flowers, hug someone you love, there is never enough time.
