Jean Ann Davies – 82, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2018. Born in Lowestoft, UK, to Eric Odom and Harriett May (Dolder) Kilham, she was married to Hal Lindsay Davies (Deceased 2011) and is survived by her son, Stephen and daughter-in-law, Erin, Halifax; daughter, Joanna, Ottawa; sisters, Margaret, Edinburgh, Scotland; Barbara, Bexhill, UK.

A teacher and artist, she studied at Homerton College, Cambridge, UK and taught in London for three years before she took a leap and applied to teach in Bermuda. It was there that she met her future husband, a dashing young naval officer and they married in Halifax in September 1962. Living in Halifax and then Head of St Margaret’s Bay, she fully explored her love of creating art, specializing in painting, machine embroidery and silver jewelry.

She was the very proud mother of Stephen and Joanna and enjoyed living in a small community, getting to know her students and their parents and watching them grow into successful adults in the 47 years she lived there. Jean and Hal enjoyed traveling the world.  Their favourite place was Club Med in the Bahamas, where they made many happy memories and friends over their numerous annual visits. She spent the last few years, living at Parkland at the Gardens and then Parkland in Truro.

A celebration of her life is being planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Jean’s obituary on-line and selecting "Send A Condolence" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
