Barbara Mae Pender – 76, Truro, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, February 4, 2018, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Silas Fulton and Violet Mae (Currie) MacKinnon.

Barbara was a member of St. David’s United Church, Bible Hill and worked at Nova Scotia Youth Training Centre. She was involved with Bible Hill Little League baseball, Bible Hill Fire Brigade Ladies Auxiliary and loved spending time at her cottage of the gulf shore which she called her little piece of heaven.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Joan MacLeod (Martin van Dijk), Donna (Andy) Biblow, Calgary, Alberta; sons, Ian Pender, Truro; Rob Pender, Greg (Pamela) Pender, Mark Pender, Calgary, Alberta; grandchildren, David, Tricia, Brandon, Sydney, MacKenzie, Jordan, Jacob, Riley, Matias; many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Angus Pender; sister, Joan (Carl) Goodwin; granddaughter, Heather Pender. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Cedarstone Enhanced Care for their loving care for the past 12 years; you were amazing.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations in Barbara’s memory to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
