Evelyn Mary
Gamache – 80, Upper
North River, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family,
on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre,
Truro. Born in Tatamagouche, she was a daughter of the late Frank and
Annie (Millard) Dingle.
Family meant everything to Evelyn and she was happiest when
surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Although her early life
wasn’t easy, she used her creative imagination,
determination, unwavering love and strength to make sure her children,
and the children of countless others, were provided for in a safe,
caring and loving home. Who other than our Mom could make chicken
noodle soup (without the chicken) and "ghost macaroni" that
the kids would line up for and ask for seconds? Many would ask her for
the cherished recipees, however, those will remain in the treasured
family cookbook. She was an avid reader who has, without a doubt, read
hundreds or maybe even thousands of books. She also enjoyed darts,
bowling and dancing.
Evelyn is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Larry
Gamache; beloved children, Debra Gamache, Kirk Nichol, Steve (Darlene)
Gamache, Wendy (Katie) Holmes, William (Kathryn) Gamache; cherished
grandchildren, Chrissy Gamache, Troy Pye, Adam Gamache, Jillian
Gamache (Colton DeCoste), Brendan Gamache; adored great grandchildren,
Kaeli McCormick, Sean Todd, Tiarnan Keating; sister, Beverly (Wayne)
Arsenault; several aunts, nieces and nephews. Along with her parents,
she was predeceased her children, Bobbie in infancy, Diana in infancy,
Pamela (Ted, surviving) Pye.
