Fraser Ernest
"Ernie" Wilson – 86,
Bible Hill, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Colchester East
Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Port Hope, Ontario, he was a son
of the late William Lawrence Wilson, who died prior to
Ernie’s birth in 1932, and the late Spray Minnie (Massey)
Wilson.
Ernie passed on his love of sports and the Toronto Maple
Leafs to his sons. He was a generous spirit who never said no to
anyone asking a favor. Ernie had a hard beginning in life as his
father passed away prior to his birth and he was raised by his mom and
his uncle. At a young age he sailed the Great Lakes as a cabin
boy/cook where ship’s captains taught him to play crib and
checkers; it was tough to impossible to beat him at either. In his
late teens he joined the army and served his country for over 28 years
before semi-retiring to join Commissionaires in Truro. His last career
was as a taxi driver, professionally as well as socially, to anyone
that ever needed a drive anywhere at any time.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Maryann (Delaney);
sons, Bill, Brian, Tim; grandsons, Ryan and Logan. Along with his
parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Samuel; sister, Irene
Dorothy Wilson.
Private family interment has been held in Onslow Island
Cemetery, Reverend Donna Lawrence officiated. If so desired, donations
in Ernie’s memory to Lung Association of Nova Scotia are
welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of
condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Ernie’s
