Bryon Douglas MacKenzie – 82, North River,
passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Colchester East
Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he was the son of the late
Carl and Elsie (Hanham) MacKenzie.
Bryon was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church and worked
in the spinning room at Stanfield’s. He was a quiet, kind
hearted gentleman who kept to himself and enjoyed the simple pleasures
in life. Every day, he would get up, take a taxi to town, eat at one
of his favourite restaurants, hang out at the mall and catch up with
his many friends and then would take a taxi back home. He was an avid
collector of many things and an "organized hoarder"; every
item that he collected over the years had special meaning and
significance to him. He also enjoyed traveling and looked forward to
his trips to Florida to visit with family.
Bryon is survived by his long time care-giver and friend,
Wanda Morrison; without your care and support, Bryon would not have
been able to live as independently as he did and for that, we thank
you immensely. As well, Bryon is survived by his aunt, Mary Corey,
Woodstock, and a wide circle of loving cousins and friends. Along with
his parents, he was predeceased by his aunt, Dorothy (Sherman) Dewar;
uncles, Clarence (Kathleen) MacKenzie, Lawrence Corey.
All are welcome to attend a graveside funeral service that
will be held 7 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Aenon Baptist Church
Cemetery, across from 1595 Highway 311, Central North River. If so
desired, donations in Bryon’s memory to Heart and Stroke
Foundation of Nova Scotia are welcome.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of
condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Bryon’s
